We’re moving deeper into the world of Mediterranean olive oil, seeking out the people who are crafting the future of this industry. Early harvest, and produced in limited quantities, these oils are rarely tasted outside their native regions and all are pushing the boundaries of flavour and nutrition.

Super complex notes on the nose and palate, these gems come from some of the world’s most renowned olive oil producing areas:

These outstanding extra virgin olive oils come from small-batch, family-owned, and were harvested across October and November 2024.
The oils here have been curated by our founder and olive oil sommelier, Sarah Vachon, to reflect not only flavourful and diverse products, but also from farmers who share our values—working in harmony with nature and in a way that builds a health ecosystem.

Tastes like...

Nose: Green vegetables, fresh-cut grass and green tomatoes.

Palate: Clean. Moderately bitter with an intense peppery finish.

Really loves a risotto, sings in soups, amazing in arugula salads, enjoys an aged cheese, and pairs beautifully with dark chocolate.

Tastes like...

Nose: Aromas of green bell pepper and chicory, followed by softer notes of creamy artichoke and red apple. There’s also herbal notes too, like wild spearmint.

Palate: The palate has a medium bitterness that’s short, with a chicory and nutty note. The finish is like a chile on your throat, with a lingering spice.

Whether drizzled over lemon pasta, rocket salads or paired with anchovies and warm bread, this oil brings a fresh, classically Sicilian feel to the table.

Nose: Aromatic with the fragrance of artichokes, green almonds, and a bit of chicory.

Palate: It's like a bouquet of herbs. Clean. Sharply bitter.

Tuscan Olive Oil Extra Rare

Everything Up To Eleven

Firstly, it has that rounded, almost creamy taste and texture you only get from high quality (always expensive) olive oil but then you get the fruit, which is off the chart. Then you get the wet grassy pepper. Fresh and bright. It has what whiskey drinkers would call "a long finish". Could you drink it? Not that you'd probably want to but yes. For an oil so 'full on' in flavour, it still tastes refined. Unusual and excellent.

Best olive oil I’ve ever tasted

I thought I’d tasted great oil and then we started our Citizens of Soil membership and I quickly realised I’d been missing out. My favourite use of the good olive oil so far has been to drizzle it on top of homemade minestrone or with figs and manchego. DELICIOUS!!!

The Olive Oil Club delivers a range of delicious oils throughout the year. At this time, you can't sign up for a subscription to just one oil, though you can order larger formats, sets, or our bottles when you need to top-up.
Our producers all farm organically to the EU standard without any synthetics or chemical "cides".
Our Greek, Spanish, Tuscan, Sicilian, and Portuguese oils are all certified organic and Soil Association certified.
Welcome you to the fascinating, yet very confusing world of extra virgin olive oil. We wrote an article all about the term "cold-pressed" if you'd like to read up in detail, but in short, it is just a marketing buzzword, as by legal definition in the EU, extra virgin olive oil is extracted without any heat or chemicals and only comes from the “first pressing” (more like squeezing) of the olives—which is exactly the definition of our products.
