Welcome to the wonderful world of olive oil! This Club is about curating a range of EVOOs from producers who prioritise flavour, nutrition, and sustainability.
Sourced personally by our founder & passionate olive oil sommelier, Sarah, you'll get to try at least 6 oils per year to match the seasons.

Please note: As we work to champion small producers, the nature of the harvest means the amount of oil we get each year varies. This means you won't receive a different oil every month, but you will certainly get to try several different regions, styles, and varieties throughout the year—all that adhere to our *extra* high standards around sustainability, quality, and nutrition.

With every oil, you'll get tasting notes from our founder & olive oil sommelier, as well as seasonal pairing suggestions for that particular oil.

We'll also share recipes inspired from each EVOO, with regular opportunities for you to come to exclusive events (online and in person) to learn and taste more together.

It is in my opinion great value for money, and I look forward to the next delivery.
Okay sometimes the same oil is delivered as the previous month but for me personally that is not a problem, it just means i can use more. I would and do recommend Citizen of soil to my friends and colleagues.

Misleading Marketing

I have been oil tasting at various farms, and I know what fresh olive is like - cloudy light green with a spicy/fragrant taste. This is what I expected. I received the same very clear yellow oil I’d find in the supermarket. Extremely disappointing. The marketing feels very misleading.

It's a valid point, since all of our harvest and production content looks like that (when the oil is freshly-made). That said, since it's like a fresh-pressed juice, the colour does fade soon after. Some varieties will hold onto the colour longer, but colour is no indicator of quality. While it does tell you how close to harvest it was made and also can represent the variety type, most oils start to mellow the colour even within a couple of weeks.

The way you can get that oil is by looking to buy one close after the harvest (for example, harvest typically runs from October through December), and we bring over new oils just after that time. Olive oil comes in a variety of shades and we'd love for you to try our grassy Greek oils and punchy, Spanish oils to see our full showcase.

Need a new bottle

The plastic top fell into bottle. We got a replacement plastic bit but actually we now have floating plastic in our oils. Please can be a new bottle be sent.

Oh no Richard! You'll need to use a corkscrew to carefully wiggle our nifty stoppers out of the bottle each time, once you get the knack it is very easy. But not to worry, we've sent you an email to try and resolve this for you.

We curate new, exciting EVOOs from small-batch producers that change every *1-2 months*, depending on availability. That means you can expect at least 6 per year.
As the nature of the harvest and the size of our community means changes, the amount of oil we get each year varies.
While you won't receive a different oil every month, you will certainly get to try several different regions, styles, and varieties throughout the year.
No, the Olive Oil Club is only pouches that arrive through your letterbox. However, if you'd like to start with a bottle, you can add one of our standard ones here.
Currently, we can't offer a choice of oil in the Olive Oil Club due to the nature of supporting small-batch producers and planning all the oil with them at their annual harvest. However, if you do not like a particular style, do let us know and we’ll certainly try to accommodate within what’s available. Feedback is also welcome as it helps us source better next time!
Our producers all farm organically to the EU standard without any synthetics or chemical "cides". However, as we only work with small farms, some have not yet been certified—which is why we cannot legally label it as “organic”, unless it has the certification. Many of them, though, are well on their way in the conversion and audit process (it takes a few years), so we hope to share more soon.
Currently, our Greek oil from Sparta and our Italian oil from Tuscany are the only oils in our range that can carry the organic certification on its label.
Welcome you to the fascinating, yet very confusing world of extra virgin olive oil. We wrote an article all about the term "cold-pressed" if you'd like to read up in detail, but in short, it is just a marketing buzzword, as by legal definition in the EU, extra virgin olive oil is extracted without any heat or chemicals and only comes from the “first pressing” (more like squeezing) of the olives—which is exactly the definition of our products.
