What is an olive oil masterclass?

Your intro to all things EVOO (extra virgin olive oil). We’ll start off with the background of this ancient superfood, then dive into how it’s actually made today, before going into a guided sensory experience to learn how to properly taste olive oil.

We’ll also share practical advice on what to look out for when buying an oil, how to use it, and some top food and drink pairings.

From our farm partners across the olive oil world, we can also bring you updates on the latest harvest, industry insights around climate and nutrition, and what’s new in the field.

Led by our olive oil sommelier.

Sarah Vachon is a leading olive oil expert and educator in the UK who’s trained everyone from Michelin-starred chefs and nutritionists, to high-street chains and corporate food & drinks teams.

As the EVOO sommelier and founder behind Citizens of Soil, she curates a line-up of award-winning extra virgin olive oils for our monthly Olive Oil Club™. She’s regularly in the Mediterranean, doing multiple harvests a year and visiting groves to learn from and work with some of the world’s most celebrated producers.

Sarah has worked across food, drink, and hospitality businesses for more than 12 years working directly with chefs, bartenders, and makers.

She's a champion of women in farming, and partners with small-batch producers who practise regenerative agriculture. She’s also an active member of Women in Olive Oil, a global network which empowers education and the advancement of women in the industry.
