Ginger & EVOO Martini.

Ginger & EVOO Martini.

This is your morning ginger shot, dressed in its evening best. It’s fiery, sharp and a little unexpected. It’s the kind of drink that makes you feel like you’ve got your life together, even if you’re still in your slippers.

There’s warmth from the ginger, sweetness from the honey and brightness from the lemon, all tied together with a golden drizzle of Citizens of Soil EVOO (because why should salads have all the fun?).

Here's the method:
  • To make the syrup, finely grate the ginger into a saucepan.
  • Tip in the water and honey and bring to a gentle simmer over a low heat.
  • Let it cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Remove from the heat and allow to cool completely before straining into an air-tight container or jar.
  • Add all martini ingredients to a cocktail shaker with plenty of ice.
  • Shake for 30 seconds or until the shaker turns ice-cold.
  • Strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with a few drops of extra virgin olive oil and a piece of crystallised ginger.

Top tip

Although you can use any vodka, olive oil vodka really takes this to the next level.
