What we’re looking for:

We are looking for a commercially-minded, creative-led marketeer leader who is ready to take full ownership of marketing as we move into the next phase of scale.

You will own our communications plan, and drive brand awareness, consistency, and best-in-class creative—resulting in high levels of brand affinity and sales.

This is a full-funnel marketing role, where you’ll lead on brand strategy, campaign execution, comms, and oversight of digital performance. This leadership position will play a vital role in shaping the future of the business. Alongside the founders, you’ll be responsible for shaping the growth strategy and empowering teams to deliver on making us a remarkable brand and solid business to continue championing our network of incredible producers, transforming the olive oil category for the better.

The ideal candidate:

  • A strong track record of wins in CPG, ideally within a challenger brand or high-growth premium FMCG environment (has scaled brands beyond £10 million).
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and rapid change (challenger-minded). Fluidly navigates the full experience mix: brand,  DTC, social, CRM, comms, trade, and activations.
  • Strong creative mind and natural flair for brand storytelling, with an instinct for what makes a brand visually and emotionally compelling. 
  • Commercially-minded and able to connect brand activity to business outcomes (understanding performance, sales, and marketing metrics). 
  • Successful in managing budgets and delivering measurable ROI. 
  • Equally ready to do high-level strategy and hands-on execution. A natural leader, teaching and empowering with clarity and positivity, while also building teams.
  • Solid project management and organisation skills, with the ability to prioritise for yourself and the team across a range of activities. An artist at effectively balancing many projects at once!
  • Outstanding communication skills across written and verbal, to articulate the brand story, essence, and manage a creative team effectively.
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret the data and insights that will drive the marketing strategy.
  • Proactive and driven. Must have a growth mindset and take initiative independently, while collaborating well across the business and with external partners.
  • Experienced leading high-performing marketing teams.
  • Ambitious and ready to grow the business and your role in it within a short timeframe. 
  • Has strong accountability and a solid work ethic.
  • Has a positive attitude and a tenacious character; things in our business can change quickly, so being comfortable reacting fast to unexpected opportunities and challenges will make this job exciting for you.
  • Aligned with the mission and ethics of Citizens of Soil, specifically wanting to progress a mission around turning a commodity into a community to benefit people and planet. 
  • Enjoys working in small, entrepreneurial, start-up environments.

  • Has a current right to work and live in the UK.
  • Can regularly commute into the central London office (Farringdon).

Top-level responsibilities:

  • Create and action a comprehensive marketing strategy aligned with our mission, goals, and objectives—delivering campaigns that drive brand and commercial growth.
  • Develop and execute the annual marketing calendar for the team, aligning brand-building and commercial objectives.
  • Act as brand guardian, protecting and enhancing the brand's premium identity, ensuring consistent and elevated execution across all channels.
  • Develop compelling content to nurture the brand's narrative, weaving lifestyle, farmers, vision, and mission into compelling stories.
  • Oversee all creative development, messaging, and visual expression at every touchpoint. 
  • Ensure brand-building and customer acquisition activities worked together across every marketing channel.
  • Champion customer insights, making sure the brand resonates meaningfully with the target audiences.
  • Lead shopper marketing strategy and deliver high-impact retail activations, working closely with sales and retail partners on premium in-store experiences and promotions.
  • Take full ownership of the marketing budget. Plan, allocate, and track spend whilst implementing robust KPI tracking for insights and commercial impact.
  • Run monthly marketing KPI reviews and campaign post-mortems to drive continuous improvement and feed ideations for innovation.
  • Manage and mentor a high-performing, growing in-house marketing team, providing guidance, feedback, and professional development opportunities.
  • Be responsible for the direction, output, and performance of external agency partners, from creative to performance, ensuring they deliver against clear objectives, on time and on brand.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, product development, and senior leadership, to ensure consistent messaging and alignment with business objectives.
  • Be a champion of our sustainability ethos and look at every decision from an impact lens.
