Meet the producers: Marianna & George.

It starts with love. George was a country boy from Kalentzi who took Marianna, a physicist from Athens to his family’s groves where she became obsessed with olive oil.

From certified city girl, to certified EVOO sommelier and consultant, she’s now building on her husband's family groves to create something magical in the region. True to their namesake (sophia coming from the ancient Greek meaning “wise”), this conscientious couple use regenerative practices to carefully cultivate and champion native olive varieties in this wild and historic part of Greece.

About the region.

Greece is the OG when it comes to EVOO. And when we think of specific regions that are famed for their oil, even amongst the Greeks themselves, it would have to be Crete and the Peloponnese Peninsula.

It’s here that we find Marianna & George in the village of Kalentzi—an ancient magical place that appears a little more wild and rugged than a typical picture perfect Greek landscape.
