Our certified olive oil sommelier and founder, Sarah Vachon, travels the whole of the olive world working directly with inspiring producers. The oils she selects are all about flavour, nutrition, and come from farming in harmony with nature. Now, you can elevate your home cooked meals with her carefully curated range of extra virgin olive oils.
Currently, we can't offer a choice of oil in our Olive Oil Club to the nature of supporting small-batch producers and planning all the oil with them at their annual harvest. However, if you do not like a particular style, do let us know and we’ll certainly try to accommodate within what’s available. Feedback is also welcome as it helps us source better next time.
We curate new, exciting EVOOs from small-batch producers that change every 1 month, depending on availability. That means you can expect as many as 12 per year.
As the nature of the harvest and the size of our community means changes, the amount of oil we get each year varies.
Our producers all farm organically to the EU standard without any synthetics or chemical "cides". However, as we only work with small farms, some have not yet been certified—which is why we cannot legally label it as “organic”, unless it has the certification. Many of them, though, are well on their way in the conversion and audit process (it takes a few years).
Welcome to the fascinating, yet very confusing world of extra virgin olive oil. We wrote an article all about the term "cold-pressed" if you'd like to read up in detail, but in short, it is just a marketing buzzword, as by legal definition in the EU, extra virgin olive oil is extracted without any heat or chemicals and only comes from the “first pressing” (more like squeezing) of the olives—which is exactly the definition of our products.
