B Corp brands UK

B Corp brands to have on your radar.

It’s our first celebration of B Corp month as a Certified B Corporation™, so we are thrilled to kick it off by giving a shout-out to some of our favourite brands in the community.

We’ve already written a post all about what it means to be a B Corp and why it is particularly important to us. But to recap: when we first drafted out our business plan, we aligned it to a triple-bottom-line: people, planet, and profit. And to hold ourselves to the highest standard possible as we grow, we joined the B Corp’s global community.

Since we are strong believers that with every pound spent you cast a vote for the kind of world you want to see, we wanted to share with you some brands that are doing some incredibly cool stuff, while taking care of the people and the planet.

These fellow B Corps are changing the business landscape as we know it by making purpose as important a priority as their profits. So if you’d like to support them—we’re also sharing small discounts and giveaways with some below.

Oddbox

Oddbox

Did you know that the environmental impact of food waste is thought to be 248x that of plastic? Every year, as much as 40% of food produced globally is wasted, contributing to an estimated 10% of all emissions.

Our friends at Oddbox are fighting food waste, one curvy cucumber at a time. They work with growers to rescue the “too odd” and “too many”—farm-fresh fruit and veg at risk of going to waste. Then they deliver overnight to keep emissions low, just like the milkman.

You can now join their rescue mission with 50% off your first box using the code CITIZENSOFSOIL

(T&Cs: this code will give new Oddbox customers 50% off their first box. Offer excludes SX fruit and veg boxes, fruit booster box and add-ons. Offer expires 31/7/24.)

Origin coffee

Origin Coffee

If you are into discovering different terroirs, producers and flavours (like you are with our EVOOs)—you will love what they do, too. They source, roast, educate, and brew exceptional coffee from around the world.

We first connected with Origin around the shared values of seasonality, provenance, and transparency. This—and we had the same digital consultancy (🙏 thanks for the intro, Tribe Team).

But as we’ve just joined the B Corp community and as they’ve just re-certified, we thought what better way to celebrate than to organise a massive giveaway (and with the teams from Coat and houseof as well).

So by joining through the link here, you get a chance to win a year’s supply worth of their coffee.

Houseof

After 20 years working for some of the high-street’s biggest names, Helen and Michael created houseof to shake up the market—challenging the way the small stuff is done and bringing a different approach to a stale industry.

Their ethos is simple: products should be designed, people should be respected, and the planet should be protected. All of this is at the heart of every decision made and every light sold.

And by entering this giveaway, you get the chance to win a £250 voucher for their stunning products.

Form nutrition

Form Nutrition

Form is an exceptional brand providing nutritious, plant-based products as well as a wealth of nutrition knowledge and inspiration. They’re a wellness one-stop-shop, crafting plant-based proteins for your body and responsibly-sourced nootropics for your brain.

Our founders actually discovered Form a while ago in Planet Organic and their Vanilla protein powder has become their morning staple ever since. It’s an integral part of their morning B Corp smoothie (recipe coming soon 👀).

Mindful Chef

Mindful Chef

We’re massive fans of what our friends over from Mindful Chef stand for. Rated the UK's #1 rated healthy recipe box, they are making nutritious food effortless and delicious, while sourcing great ingredients from sustainably-minded producers.

Back in Autumn of 2023, we teamed up with them to enhance their meals with our liquid gold. And you can still add on our refill pouches into your meal kit box!

Small-scale olive oil producers take on the mega farms

Ever wondered why you can buy a beautiful house in a Mediterranean village for just €1? Moments from your favourite holiday destinations, abandoned groves serve as a stark reminder of the reality facing rural communities. Small farming—quite literally—doesn't pay the bills.   There’s been an exodus from the countryside to the cities, leaving behind charming little villages and the deserted lands around them. This week the Financial Times wrote a feature entitled "Olive oil heartlands battle ...

The olive oil 'fridge test': If only.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.   This article was written by Alexis Kerner, a leading international olive oil expert & environmental scientist and edited by the Citizens of Soil team.   If true, the "fridge test" would single handedly solve most of the problems of extra virgin olive oil producers, taster, retailers and importers alike.  Sadly, it is not that simple. And the only rule to follow here is this: if you think it is too good to be true, then it probably is.  ...

Kale and fig salad

For those who aren’t quite ready for soup season. And for those who still love salads, all year round.
