Q&A with Borough Broth

Want to know more about the benefits of bone broth?

To start you on your journey we spoke to Ros, found of Borough Broth

Borough Broth Company was created in 2015 when Ros, upon discovering the benefits of bringing bone broth into her lifestyle, set out to buy a tasty pre-made broth so there wasn’t always the need to have bones boiling away in the kitchen. After finding that quality, small-batch bone broths made with delicious, organic ingredients (but without additives and preservatives) simply didn’t exist, Ros set out to make her own.

Q: How do you make your bone broth?

It's made of bones, vegetables, herbs and seasoning, which are all slow-cooked in spring water for 24 hours with the addition of a little apple cider vinegar (don't worry you can't taste it) which is meant to help extract the collagen and minerals from the bones.

Q: What are the benefits of bone broth?

Bone broth is known for its potential to support overall well-being. Some studies suggest that chicken broth may have anti-inflammatory properties that can help with sinus and respiratory infections. Many also believe it supports gut health and can benefit joints, muscles, bones, and even the skin, hair, and nails!

Q: How should you use bone broth?

I love simply heating and drinking it in a mug. Otherwise, think of it as a nourishing stock, which can be splashed into recipes or used as a delicious, rich base in soups and stews.

Q: Do I need to have it at a certain time to get the most benefit from bone broth?

To get the most out of bone broth, it's all about finding what works best for you. Whether you prefer sipping it straight from a mug as a gentle replacement for your caffeine-fuelled morning fix, slurping it with a comforting bowl of noodles, or adding it to your favourite recipes, bone broth offers flexibility while staying true to its nourishing roots. Everyone’s body is different, but incorporating high-quality, nutrient-rich foods like bone broth into a balanced diet can be a positive step towards supporting your well-being.

Q: Finally, what's your favourite way to use bone broth?

My personal favourite is using it as the base of a noodle soup – just a small tweak here and there can make it a different experience every time you cook it!
