Variety: Koroneiki & Athinoelia.

Origin: Sparta, Peloponnese, Greece.
Process: Superior category extra virgin olive oil obtained directly from mechanical (never chemical) means; achieving 0.17% acidity. The olives are milled within 24 hours of being picked. This oil is filtered.
Introducing this fresh curation from the organic groves of five families around Laconia; Vilia, Kargakos, Christofilakos, Valkanas, and Alexandrakou families.

It's then milled by the Valioti family at their state-of-the-art mill to produce outstanding quality and nutrition.

In the end, old traditions and family legacies have mixed with high-tech precision to deliver thoughtful quality, all centred around a community making its comeback.

Tastes like...
Fresh and buttery, with an initial aroma of fresh-cut green grass, followed by the fragrance of artichokes and tomato. On the palate, it has a smooth and delicate creamy feel, with distinct herby notes like oregano and dried basil coming through. The finish here is pleasant with a tingling cracked pepper spice.

Pestos—In fresh, herby sauces like pesto, chermoula, and chimichurris! Perfect to put this over pasta, beans, potatoes.
Salads—Marinating summer tomatoes or drizzled over fruit salads.
Ice cream—Poured over vanilla ice cream with a bit of sea salt, or with crème fraîche over a chocolate cake with berries in the sunshine.
100% olives from small batches. Nothin' but the juice, baby.

This oil was harvested when the olives were green but turning ripe on the trees. This batch came in at 500 mg/kg of polyphenols, which is above the 250 mg/kg benchmark set by EU Regulation (No. 432/2012) about high-polyphenol olive oils.

Subscription + occasional extra purchases

I have a subscription and purchase occasional extra supplies of olive oil from Citizens of Soil. The subscription provides me with different flavours throughout the year, the occasional extras keeping me topped up when I need more or when I want particular flavours. Personally, I have seen results of blood tests improve since consuming olive oil daily - I cannot be 100% certain the olive oil is the reason, but I strongly suspect it is. I have at least two spoons per day, plus using olive oil liberally in/over food. Customer service is also great.

This Greek olive oil is my favourite so far. I think of meadows every time I taste it. Absolutely delicious.

First order

I am on my first order and I am pleasantly surprised withe service and quality of the oil. Tbh I am not necessary big olive oil users simply because I found them pricey and conflicting info out there. I thought I would give it a go as I am trying to eat healthier and taste is nothing like ones from supermarkets. It’s nice to have tomatoes, mozarella, basil and drizzle of this tasty oil for dinner, light and delish.
