Recommended to me by a totally non-food-related YouTube channel, I am now a fan of Citizens of Soil.
I knew that olive oil could taste this way and that there were different flavour profiles in the EVOO market but it has been interesting finding these out for real - and finding out which profile(s) I probably prefer or which I would use for which purposes. There has been a sea change in the style of home cooking in the last forty years or so, with a trend to more uncomplicated scratch cooking, using less manufactured food products, more modern cooking techniques and adding a few selective premium ingredients to the usual affordable ingredients. Citizens of Soil's EVOO is one of those premium ingredients. When used in this way, it's a question of invoking the mindset that the cost saved by buying fewer, less nutritious foodstuffs and buying from Citizens of Soil, isn't as expensive as is sometimes argued.
Most of us in the UK take some form of supplement and some vitamins are fat-soluble. A shot of a Citizens of Soil EVOO to go with those supplements is another valuable, health-boosting reason for considering this as part of your wider food strategy. In short, give it a try. You may surprise yourself.
